Accessibility

What has been done for accessibility on this website, and what has not. Effective 3 November 2026.

DigiD Ghana should be usable by everyone, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or a small screen. This is what is true today.

What has been done

  • Pages use real headings, lists, landmarks, links and buttons, and a “Skip to the content” link comes first.
  • Colours are chosen to meet the WCAG 2.x AA contrast ratios, and an automated test checks them.
  • Focus is always visible, every control can be used with a keyboard, text can be enlarged, and the layout adapts to narrow screens without sideways scrolling.
  • The phone menu opens and closes with a button, closes with the Escape key, and keeps focus inside while it is open.
  • The background video is decorative, has no sound, starts muted, can be paused with a button, and does not play at all if your device is set to reduce motion or to save data. A still photograph is shown instead.
  • Images that carry meaning have text descriptions; decorative ones are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Every page is scanned automatically against WCAG 2.1 levels A and AA on every change, at desktop and phone widths. Such tools find only part of the real problems.

What has not been done

  • No audit with screen readers, voice control or switch devices has taken place, so no conformance level is claimed.
  • Only English is available.
  • The DigiD Ghana app and the partner portal have not been tested with assistive technology either.
